VIVIENNE WILLIAMS' BIO
Vivienne Williams' has a voice that can best be described as a finely woven musical tapestry of influences, which include R&B, Jazz, Soul with a touch of syncopation.
This two-time JUNO AWARDS nominee was acclaimed as "a mellifluous cross between Sarah Vaughan and Tina Turner", by The New York Times.
Ms. Williams, a member of the vocal trio " SWAY" reached #1 on the Adult Contemporary charts, with their hit single "Hands Up" which achieved "GOLD STATUS" and was nominated for Viviennes' first Juno Award.
You may remember the title track from her album "MY TEMPTATION" which was quoted by the Canadian music business bible "The Record", as being… the fastest rising independent record release in Canadian radio history."
Vivienne was nominated for yet another JUNO AWARD but this time for her performance in her R&B/ Soul Recording, entitled "INFATUATED", a song she co-wrote with Mark Houlliff, which was released in the United States.
Ms. Williams has toured extensively across both the United States and Canada as well as performing throughout Asia. She has appeared on various television programs such as; City TV's "Electric Circus", "Breakfast Television", " Anne Murrays' Family Christmas Special", "The Jerry Lewis Telethon for Muscular Dystrophy", as well as sharing the stage with many popular artists like, Corey Hart, Bruce Cockburn, The Temptations, Percy Sledge, Dan Hill, George Benson, Taylor Dayne, Tower of Power, Colm Wilkinson, Chaka Khan, Herbie Hancock .
You may also recognize her voice in commercials such as "Hershey's Cookies & Creme", where she captivated us with her presence as well as her enchanting voice, or the "Bank of Montreal's Mbank Launch", in which she caused a stir with her heartfelt rendition of Bob Dylan's "The Times Are A-Changin".
She is happy thankful and grateful for the privilege of being able to perform with various, talented and awesome Toronto artists, such as Joe Sealy, Paul Novotny, Mark Kelso, Lou Pomonti, George Koller, Molly Johnson, Sharon Lee Williams, Colina Philips, Shawne Jackson, Elaine Overholt, Jerry Caringi, Trust, Bob Di Angelis, Murray Alter, Mark Shannon, Free Flight the Big Band, Gordon Webster, Doug Riley, and Archie Alleyne's" Kollage" etc...
